Heart in the home

Is the kitchen.

B and I started staying more frequently at our new home and we choose to cook rather than going downstairs to grab meals for two.

I realized that it was not difficult to cook for 2 actually. A simple meal can be done easily in an hour ( excluding time needed to defrost any meat stuffs thus, put the meat stuffs in the fridge if you going to cook within the next 12 hours)

Example: a simple soup with stir fried veg and stir fried chili meat dish.

Soup first
We will first put the cleaned bones/ribs into the boiling water. Soon after, you will see black color stuffs (blood stains from the bones) floating in the pot, remove those and continue to boil till the bones are slightly “cooked” so that you see less of the it when you boil the bones the 2nd time. Pour away the water and fill with with normal water and re-boil the bones.

Followed by : Cut/Prepare the Vegetables
Wash/clean the vegetables you want to stir fried and also those need to add in the soup. Once the water is boiled again for the soup, throw in the vegetables and simmer. Cut the garlic (extra for the meat) and at the same time cut the chili for the meat.

Followed by : Rice
Wash and cook rice.

Followed by : Simple Stir Fried Meat Dish
Meat should already be thawed and ready to be cooked.

Followed by : Stir Fried Vegetables
Cook the vegetables.

See! All within an hour. The rice should be cooked by then too.

What I learnt:
Always plan ahead on what you going to cook so that you can prepare all the stuffs you need at one go e.g. Garlic. Cut enough for all the dishes that you need so that you do not waste time going back to cut the same thing.

Sequence of cooking dishes. You cannot be cooking the soup last and wait for another hour after you are done.

Try to reuse the plates as much as possible if not cleaning would be a disaster later on. Example, rinse and reuse.

Happy cooking!
